To me, one of the clearest biblical examples of this is demonstrated in the life of Joseph. When he was seventeen years old, his hateful brothers threw him into a pit in the wilderness. When some Ishmaelite traders passed by, Joseph’s brothers pulled him out and sold him for some quick cash. The traders transported him to Egypt, where they sold him as a slave to a man named Potiphar, who was Pharaoh’s officer. Even though Joseph faithfully served in the palace, Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him of attacking her. Without a trial, Joseph was declared guilty and locked up in prison.

Although it looked like Joseph’s circumstances were out of control, the Bible tells us that “the LORD was with him.”2 After interpreting a dream for Pharaoh, Joseph was released from prison and, amazingly, was promoted to second in command over Egypt. Through his position as a ruler, God used him to save the nation of Israel during a time of famine.

NOT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU WILL BE GOOD, BUT GOD CAN MAKE IT GOOD.
